How They Asked Platinum Proposal: Madison and Austin

How We Met

Austin and I met our junior year of college: His best friend and my best friend had been dating since high school, so naturally, we ended up meeting. After bugging my best friend for my phone number, he finally called me and invited me to hang out—just the two of us. We went on a hike near the University of Georgia. The original planned hike of an hour turned into three hours and us staying at the park until we were the last people there. Little did I know, the best first date I’d ever been on would be my last first date.

How They Asked

The day Austin enlisted in the Army was the day my world changed. After three months of basic training, he was sent to eight more months of training across the country. During this time, I graduated college and started my first job near my hometown in Georgia. After hours of video chatting, extremely long phone calls, and millions of “I miss yous,” he finally was heading back home before being stationed in Colorado. I’d made plans to move with him out to his first duty station, but with military life, you never know the true timing. I was at dinner with my friends in our historic town square when he surprised me a week early. Immediately after hugging me, he dropped to one knee…and of course, I said “Yes!” I’m thankful for who he is and what he does for our country always. It’ll forever be the best day of my life!
